Re: Braided Hose Brake Line?
Yep, got my HEL lines delivered this week. They look and feel extremely high quality and I'm not dissapointed! I can't wait to get them on my bike... transparent blue and blue banjos should match my lapis blue bike beautifully. Along with new discs and new brembo pads, I should be in a new world of ...

Re: Braided Hose Brake Line?
Hi all,
I know this thread may be long dead, but... is there any modification I'd need to do to fit Race line (two lines) on my otherwise stock firestorm? I.e. can I simply fit the two-line system straight onto my bike in its stock form?
Cheers!

Re: Choke retainer snapped/Is it causing issues?
Will do. I've put this job off for months because to replace the cable is a huge pain and you have to remove the tank, air box, carbs etc., and I've never done that before.

My choke cable has failed in the same way and my idle is equally shaky too! I bought a new cable but have not installed it yet.

Re: Starter motor groaning on hot start
Yep, loosening that tiny amount fixed the groan on hot start. The bike now holds idle better than it ever has, too, so I definitely had an air leak, which the service manual does call out as a probable cause of trouble holding idle.

Re: Starter motor groaning on hot start
Took it back to the shop and had them adjust the tensioners when the bike was properly hot. They had to loosen one of the tensioners less than 1/4 of a turn and the hot start noise is apparently gone. I pick it up next week so time will tell!

Re: Starter motor groaning on hot start
Also hoe much did you loosen them? Half a turn? Or did you have the engine running and loosen them while it was running? I've never done it before hence the questions!

Re: Starter motor groaning on hot start
Awesome thanks, hopefully that's exactly the problem with mine too. Were you able to loosen the tensioners without having to remove the tank and airbox or does it all have to come out?

Re: Starter motor groaning on hot start
Redhot, I just had my mechanic install Krieger manuals and have exactly the same problem! The mechanic says it's the starter clutch but it can't be coincidence and the fact that we both experience the problem straight after manuals were installed confirms it. Where did you get to with fixing this is...

Re: Valve clearances, please hold my hand....
How did you know you had leaky exhaust joints? My storm has never performed the way i thought it would and have wondered if my valves need adjustment. I have d&d cans and k&n air filter + jet kit. I replaced the two crush exhaust header gaskets a few weeks ago when I had the header pipe off ...

Gaskets required for a major service?
Hi guys, I'm very new to bike maintenance and recently bought an 01 firestorm specifically because it has an old school engine, and I want to learn all about it so that I can survive the coming zombie apocalypse. It is well overdue a major service. I need to do the following and want to know what ga...
