Re: Anyone played with Velocity Stacks?
They look pretty... nice flared edge a bit of an understatement, did you get them made or buy them?
Would you happen to know how much you increased your flow coefficient by?
Guessing you've had ports polished as a minimum... What else have you done and what sort of gains have you achieved?

Anyone played with Velocity Stacks?
Now I have the bike (seemingly) running right, I can start thinking about my head improvements I'd like to make some time over the next year. Obviously, when improving the head, your main target before cams, shims, performance gasket, valves and springs is to improve the flow of air getting in... So...

Re: cold starting issues
In fairness, she running the so much sweeter than when I first picked her up. Only ridden it up and down the road and you can feel the delivery is so much better, obviously the cans have made a difference but at least she appears to be running right now. Rectifier next... Actually saw the result of ...

Re: cold starting issues
For anyone interested, putting a tidy battery in it seems to have made all the difference. Starts properly now! For the carbs, I turned the advance all the way off, used a vernier to measure the distance between and made it match with the rear carb. When I said coincidentally, it may have been worth...

Re: cold starting issues
Sounds similar to some of the starting issues I've been having. Over the past week I've thought sod it, spend some cash and give the bike some much needed attention so here's what I did... Bought genuine CCT's (don't shout at me, my training engineers mind made me do it!!) and replaced accordingly w...

Re: single sided swing arm project
How does the thread pitch effect the forces on a nut or bolt. (:-}) If this helps at all without being to confusing... Think about an 6mm thread for example with a 0.5mm pitch, you tighten it up a bit to much and strip the thread without having to actually turn that hard, just to hard for t...

Re: single sided swing arm project
Interesting post which I will watch closely... Have a full VFR 750 swing arm, hub, wheel and a super blackbird caliper just sitting in the garage waiting for me to decide if I want to sell or keep for future project(s). Just a possibly handy suggestion, with you increasing the wheel base (even by a ...

Re: So, there's this noise...? Experience wanted!
Thanks all, most seem to be mentioning a 'carb fart' (nice term btw :) ) which is what I strongly suspect. There was/ is absolutely no rattle and I suppose the only way I can explain the type of noise is like a squeaky brake disc (but not as high pitched). I have suspected a stopper mod as the casin...

So, there's this noise...? Experience wanted!
Right, the noise.... It's almost hard to explain but I'll try my best. The best description I can think of is it's like a frictional noise but not a rattle by any means. I first noticed it just over a month ago and has become a more frequent occurrence. It never happens when sitting there idling in ...

Re: Painting wheels/sub frames
Haven't done forks on the VTR myself yet, but you should be able to do the job with your standard set of garage tools with a cir-clip pliers being about as specialist as you'll need... As for your wheels, all I can do is recommend the guy who painted and baked my old cbr wheel. It had a polished rim...

Re: SEAT QUESTION AGAIN
Er...? None of the above they all look pants 'n' chav stuff but you don't have that option... Sadly, I completely agree with MacV2. Only time a seat should be recovered with one like these is if it's the only CHEAPER option of repairing a damaged seat. A customized seat should be just that. Had Cha...

Re: Advice needed
The Fast Bike article should be a good read then...How much does this bike wheelie & what tat can we bolt on to it... Let's hope it is, we are apparently the best in Britain if not Europe for what we do and the quality of graduates coming out. It's already tatt'ed up quite a bit with TYGA sendi...
