CCT's are either working fine, or not working, as in blown engine... Very, very rarely do they make a discernible noise in time for you to notice before the engine becomes a basket case... Swapping them for peace of mind is one thing, but look for the noise elsewhere... might need to have a trip to...

just noticed that the rear fairing has a fixing screw missing just above the pillion peg and there is a bit of movement in it.

Can you buy them or would I need to improvise?
