Re: Polishing the exhaust system

how quick does it brown again once it's mounted back on the bike? Can you even protect it?

Re: fuel - miles - tank

What i find interesting is how much riding style effects fuel consumption on this particular bike...might say something about the size of the carbs. My previous sportbike (SV650N) could be flogged or babied and would always return about 45 MPG....I've watched this bike fluctuate between 28 and 30 mp...

Re: Norton Commando 961

apparently they're stateside too, hadn't noticed anything about the Commando since an article in a magazine a year or so ago. Price around 15k-18k...while expensive, it's not out of the range for those who really want one around here. Many folks spend the same amount if not more on their Harley Davi...

Re: Is it bad to turn off with the key?

rarely used...whenever I do, i inadvertently crank the motorcycle for what feels like ever wondering why it won't start...then going "oh...i'm an idiot". Luckily this hasn't happened long enough to drain a battery, but my habit is to use the key.

Re: Advice on oil light illuminating

Did you say the oil was still clear after a 700 mile jaunt? If so, i'd seriously be wondering if the oil is circulating at all. The Rotella T that I use in my bikes is a bit dark when it comes out of the jug, but after a bit of running through the engine, it's visible dark and doesn't take near 700 ...

Re: Fuel supply pipes to carbs & sticky throttle

My bike had had an issue where the revs would hang up as engine speed decreased with the clutch in, or in neutral. The hangup was always around the 2k RPM area, and I think it's fuel related...I had also noticed that I had a sticky throttle that was slow to close (but it still closed). My bike had a...

Re: New kid on the block

Little tip for you...just get the yoke & risers...from them. The bars & if you need them the longer lines you can get locally... & prob cheaper. Thanks, I'll look into it! Currently awaiting a replacement airfilter, hoping I've found part of the issue for my poor MPG! Finally ...

Re: New kid on the block

Thanks for the replies/welcomes! I'll be planning to look for new CCT's and purchase them within the next week or so. Does anyone have a brand of manual CCT's they recommend? I've also recently seen some posts where folks have used VFR clip ons to get a more upright seating position...which seems to...

New kid on the block

Hey all, Just joined the forum earlier today, and am glad to be here. I purchased a 2002 VTR1000 Super Hawk (i'm in the US) about a week ago, and have been LOVING the bike so far. It's my 5th motorcycle, and my second v-twin sport bike (2nd bike was an SV650). I joined superhawkforum.com which I bel...
