Am i to understand from this that a new link doesn't necessarily have to be from the same manufacturer as the original chain ?

Hi folks,
I'm looking to drop a tooth on my front sprocket, and need to remove a link from my chain.
I have a fairly new tsubaki alpha x ring chain, and can't find anywhere to buy a rivet link from.
If anyone has any info, i'd really appreciate it.

still waiting for a local to tell us a good parking / meet up point in Matlock Bath [note that this is just about 1 mile from Matlock]. A very shiny red one with high level cans. Going round the roundabout with the green battle tank on near leyland and preston. Can't be more specific about the location as I'm not local.
