Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Fitted a new regulator/rectifier. Great big bugger it is too. Bigger then the usual R1 fh mosfet ones. Old one (standard finned replacement) was between 13.2v and 13.8v depending on rpm and load. New one is steady at 14.45v with a flutter of .1v up or down depending on whether lights are on or off. ...

Re: new tyres :)

Thought I would add my two pence :D I bought a set of Maxxis Sport Touring a couple of weeks back. Have about 800 miles on them. Not a fast rider (been off the bike for 2 years) so still building confidence up again. Initial impressions are good. Had a couple of very wet rides (200 miles maybe) and...

Re: Squealng brakes and Chinese fairings.

Will update the post when they arrive. Think they've been despatched now so should be here in a week or 2.

The brake squeal was doing my head in! It was only lighter braking that caused it and it set my teeth on edge. Was like fingernails on a blackboard.

Re: Squealng brakes and Chinese fairings.

Ah, good question but if the pictures are to be believed I reckon it looks closer to the earlier darker shade. Always difficult to tell from a picture on a screen though. Having said that, I think my fairings are quite faded anyway. The vtr sticker on the left side panel started peeling so I pulled ...

Re: Squealng brakes and Chinese fairings.

Straight colour and having read many posts on the forum I have to come clean. It's a yellow one.

The fairings on the bike are OK. Just scuffed and the usual 18 years of wear and tear. When they're off the bike and the new ones are fitted I'll repair/repaint them.

Squealing brakes and Chinese fairings.

Hi all. I don't post very often but have been a member for a couple of years. I would just like to say thanks. I've had a horrendous brake squeal, started towards the end of last year. Generally only under light braking and slower speeds. I changed brake pads, chamfered the edges of the pads, copper...

Has anyone painted there radiators before?

Black stove paint works wonders. Temp resistant and doesn't run and covers well.

I may make the trip up and decide on the day whether or not to take the bike out. Definitely in the novice pack tho

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Well.. De-Baffled the standard canstoday. I went the 57mm hole saw route and a bit of jiggery pokery. Maybe ten minutes each side. Went out for a quick spin. Loving the burble on idle and overrun but I suspect it may get a little irritating on long rides. However, saying that once I got up to about ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Fixed the speedometer. It stopped working for no apparent reason the other day. Turned out to be the speed sensor. Luckily I had a spare :D

Other then that just some basic checks and a quick clean before heading off to the Isle of Man tomorrow :D

Re: Im an Idiot - Dropped bolt into engine casing!

Well. Finally got round to removing the sump. Bolt was sitting in the bottom as mentioned.

Probably did me a favour really as the sump had a fair bit of sludge in the bottom so cleaned that out as well as the oil pickup strainer.

So MOT on Tuesday, 2 new tires ordered.

Thanks for your help

Thanks folks, thats exactly the answer I was looking for :D RE: Stuffing rags in, im not normally so careless but there was a rag stuffed into the opening but typically the bolt found its way past and through the smallest gap. next time I think Il have to use a sturdier rag  When I changed my ...

Im an Idiot - Dropped bolt into engine casing!

Hello all. Any help appreciated with this. I was swapping my manual cam chain tensioners from the old Storm to the new one and accidentally dropped a small bolt into the rear engine casing  It was on the cam chain side (RH), and its the central bolt that holds the cam chain guard in place. M6 ...
