Power Source fitted for Satnav etc
Fitted cigar lighter to the storm so now have a handy power source for satnav, GPS, ermmmm hairdryer! It's all coming together now for the John O Groats to Lands End trip. And I'm sorted if I need a fag on the way LOL.

Re: Vtr road presence
I've noticed a difference when I open the throttle. Makes em jump! Big V-Twin with race cans
Was never a fan of race cans until now. Mind you the storm is particularly well made for race cans.

Re: satnav and GPS mounted
I know what you mean AMCQ46. Imagine what it's like with both though and how valuable it'll be to me doing JOG to LE using A & B roads only.

Re: Anyone done long distance on their Firestorm?
The pain I got was skeletal. Those bones beneath the buttocks. Painful. Hoping the storm will be better than the GPZ900R

Re: satnav and GPS mounted
1/ So I can have satnav on close up and GPS zoomed out simultaneously instead of swapping screens.
2/ If one goes faulty, I have the other.
3/ Satnav best for directions, GPS best for direction.
4/ GPS has more functions, satnav has better street mapping and larger screen.

Re: Anyone done long distance on their Firestorm?
Funnily enough I read a review on the airpads and it mentioned sweating. Best thing I've come across is butt buffer (link below) which is made of the same stuff they use on hospital beds for patients who can't move. Expensive though. Wish I'd not sold my last one on ebay  http://www.buttbuffer...

Re: Satnav Bargain Tip
From London my butt LOL.
Bargains are there though. Got mine for £5.21 + £1.50 postage. Total cost £6.50. My mate got one for his bike £7.12 with free postage. Both work fine apart from no sound.

Re: Satnav Bargain Tip
Fine if you have a simple route but not if the routes too complex to store in your head. I'm a good map-reader but I still value the benefits of Satnav especially in unfamiliar city centres.

Satnav Bargain Tip
Good way of getting a cheap satnav for your bike is to search ebay for satnavs with faulty sound. You don't need sound for bikes so disable it but you'll pick them up for as little as £5 on ebay
Another benefit is that it's not the end of the world if it gets damaged by wet or anything.

Re: Anyone done long distance on their Firestorm?
The storm does seem to have a decent seat. I did JOG to LE on a GPZ900R over 2 days and its hard seat crippled me. I had to take painkillers to keep me going. Now the storms seat is better but there'll be shorter stops on this trip because of the timescale so who knows!

Re: Anyone done long distance on their Firestorm?
Been on the phone to someone who's ridden halfway around the world and back and he gave an interesting tip. He said to wear cycling shorts under my leathers saying cyclists have worse seats than us bikers and cyclist shorts clamp all the muscles together stopping butt fatigue. Interesting!

Re: Anyone done long distance on their Firestorm?
Won't be long stops at services because we're using A roads only so few services and there'll be little time to stop anyway as we'll be on a tight deadline to do over 883 miles in less than 24 hours. This is the route; http://www.bing.com/maps/#Y3A9NTMuNTkyMTk0MDYyNTM2Mzd+LTIuNzM5NjYzODY1NDQ3MDczJmx...
