Re: Rock and a hard place
Thanks for all the replies, serious and not :D I've been measuring up and theres no room for a 2nd bike at all. I think I'll bring the storm back into service and figure out what to do at that point. Got a few jobs to do before it would be ready for sale anyway so it gives me time to think over it. ...

Re: Rock and a hard place
I guess I should add, if I do decide to sell it rather than purchase a second bike, I will offer it to members of this forum before anywhere else as I would definitely want it to remain in our little community.

Rock and a hard place
Hi guys, I havent been active much on here over the winter what with one thing and another. Anyway it looks like spring is arriving and I find myself faced with an awful decision. :/ My wife and I wanted to do some light touring on the bike this year but she says she doesnt want to do it on the stor...

Happy New Year guys
Hey fellas, Been a while since I've been around. Just wanted to say happy new year. Had a pretty quiet winter, I'm a fair weather rider only :P Not much happening except I fell down the stairs in December and did myself inpretty badly. Not even drinking, sucks. I cant ride for a while, probably anot...

Re: Chain Tension Issue
Thanks Ziggy,
2 pie R is indeed the formula. I'm ashamed I couldnt remember that, its elementary maths. Ooops.
I really do recommend everyone checks this when fitting a new sprocket. How it hasnt come up before is beyond me.....

Re: Chain Tension Issue
Because the effect is amplified. Its very hard to explain. But it isnt just 0.2mm. Its 0.2mm + any other variation which is in "play". Its progressive from the point where the chain touches the sprocket at the top, to the widest point, and back to the bottom. 0.2mm was the measurement for ...

Re: Chain Tension Issue
Alright, we have a conclusion. Renthals quality control allows 0.3mm variance on this measurement. The measurement being from the bore, to the bottom of the tooth well. As mine was 0.2mm it was within spec. After measuring some others, B&C had sprockets ranging from 0.12mm to 0.28mm variance. In...

Re: chain and sprocket kit
Having had a "bit" of experience with this lately... Just in case...standard spec is 102 link, 530 pitch chain, 41t rear and 16t front sprockets. Chain wise, DID. The VX series are ok (I have the gold one), but some people like the heavier ZVM. Sprockets....DID kits do not contain DID spro...

Re: Chain Tension Issue
To, it was measured from the tooth well to bore on opposite sides.
Renthal/B&C Express are working with me on this, since I doubt I'd have any joy from Powerite regarding the first one.

Re: Chain Tension Issue
We're talking two seperate manufacturers too.
I know it sounds unlikely but I've seen it with my own eyes. Its ridiculous. I'll be contacting B&C Express today regarding the Renthal, the mechanic is willing to back me up fully on the issue also.

Re: Chain Tension Issue
2 new sprocket by 2 differant manufacturers being egg shaped...i can't see him being that unlucky tbh.....i've changed 8 kits this year and only 1 had a faulty sprocket which they replaced with no quibble and 1 (mine) that was a tight fit but it runs true and has no tight spots....i still think it'...

Re: Chain Tension Issue
However, the tension problem occurrs no matter where the soft link is, whether its on a sprocket during that rotation, or not. ??? If it is a regular effect and your chain's link is regular.... is the regularity happening on a 1 full turn sprocket rotation or 1 full chain rotation Have you double c...
