I can see Spacemonkeys' point entirely. It's horses for courses though, and in 8 years of commuting into Birmingham I can't think of an occasion where the BEAM used would have made any difference. What makes a difference is the way you ride. Hurtle past slow moving traffic and...eventually you'll co...

The roads round N Yorks featured on a telly programme a few years ago. The prog was about a bunch of accident investigators and was not particularly anti-bike, but did make the point that intentions are not always matched by ability. I watch the video of this episode every so often. It is rather hum...

If they don't look for you, they won't see you no matter what lights you have on

I ride on dipped all the time. The only collision I've had in 80,000 miles was with a car. The dipped beam didn't help.

I ran into him!

I ride on dip beam. Do you, druid? Like you I prefer to use my riding skills (!?) to avoid a collision. I also prefer to give the cagers half a chance to see me. Best all round to get past them.

Thanks for the replies I'll not faff with the carbs. Such is my mechanical ineptitude that I managed to drop the bike off the stand whilst lubing the chain. A real 'Oh sh1t' moment but no damage apart from a remodelled brake lever. Squiffy, hope that makes you feel a bit better after your bin. At le...

Micron cans - carb settings?

Just bought a pair of Microns
Now I know I should have sussed this out before but... do I have to do any fiddling with the carbs? I've heard horror stories about burning out the valves if the jets aren't changed!

Cheers

Naah
Too many show-offs.
Hence too much police interest! I'd rather head off towards Cov - there are some superb roads between Tamworth and Coventry, and you never see the plod except on the A5

Tyres - go to Central Wheel and get your bike insulted for free!

Turn 50 in 2 months
Life's too short to wear slippers (though you can smoke on board in a Roof Boxer)
