Re: Standard Fork Upgrade Service Guide
Fastest possible return, I've heard this before but in my experience you'll get a bouncy bike that weaves doing it this way, I set a lot of bike suspension up and always set them to return at about the same rate at which you can compress them (forks and shock) then fine tune from there either to su...

Re: Standard Fork Upgrade Service Guide
Regarding spring rates for the VTR I do not agree with Paul Thede of RaceTec and discussed this with him back in the 90's. This is my recommendations. Spring Length 320mm LINEAR SPRING 0.85 kg/mm for riders weighing 10st to 13st fully kitted 0.875 kg/mm for riders weighing 13st to 15st fully kitted ...

Re: Standard Fork Upgrade Service Guide
It is good to see an excellent description of the BASIC Revolution Racing VTR STREET/OCCASIONAL TRACKDAY fork tune. I would like to point out that there is a couple of further modifications that I do on this level of tune which is NOT in the public domain. As Mr. Ablett was in Japan at the time of m...

Re: Exhaust heat wrap
Excess heat can do that to Titanium. Mori header pipes don't continue the TI right up to the cylinder outlets for that reason and use the standard pipe for the first 6-12 inches or so. I only learnt this recently! (:-}) All Moriwaki RACING full systems were entirely Ti. The VTR 1000F and VTR SP1 ST...

Re: Exhaust heat wrap
Fully wrapping the exhausts pipes as far as the canisters on a racing VTR can give as much as 4bhp :D It was eventually banned by the FIM and ACU for racing around '98 because if there is any oil leakage/spillage or even oily hands from careless trackside mechanics the pipes begin to smoke which ala...

Re: Carb Tuning guide (setting up a Dynojet or Factory Pro k
Once again Tony has posted comprehensive and accurate info. In this area which is full of "B******t and robotic Dyno operators it is so refreshing to find knowledgeable guys willing to share the truth. Congratulations!!
Re: Cams stg1
Hi Tony, Just a word of warning. If you open the ports too much the gas speed will drop significantly and disproportionately even to the point that the bike can become "unfuelable" and "unrideable" even as a race bike. Remember you are treading a well worn path already trodden by...

Re: revolution forks
I was pleased to be able to help Paul with his quest. It is some time since I used stickers on my forks because I had to order them in batches of 500 because they have to have special adhesive due to the heat generated in an operating fork and I expected to be retired by now!!! If anyone wants to pr...

Re: shock re-working
Hi Guys, OEM STANDARD SHOCK LENGTH IS 345mm "centre eye to centre eye" If your "aftermarket damper" is adjustable I recommend that you do not exceed 350mm. If you have fitted a Moriwaki or a Dan Kyle suspension linkage arm do not exceed 345mm and for "Street use" if you...

Hi Rob, I can still get them specially made to order from Moriwaki as a complete set of side tubes, elbows and airbox. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/posting.php?mode=reply&f=9&t=28160# The last set they made for me about 20 months ago took nearly six weeks to arrive in the UKhttp://www.vtr10...

Re: Clutch case.
Sorry to hear of your fall and the legs looks sore :( Please check very carefully that no gravel or tarmac has been forced into the engine and hopefully the engine did not continue to run while on its side. I see that there appears to be no oil showing in the oil inspection window in the posted phot...
