Re: Engine Rebuild.
Well slow progress, just started putting things back together, before i realised i'd only bought 4 crank shells, half of what is required. so will have to order some more before I can even start.

Re: This winter's rebuild and mods
Do tell tony? I'd definatly be interested, did you get standard size pistons in the end? or manage to get the cylinders bored. I set about putting mine back together today and realised i'd only bought 4 bearing shells, only enough to do the half of anything (oops)

Re: Engine Rebuild.

Re: Wanted: frame bolt adjuster 90117-mbb-000
clearances are fine towards the open then of the adjustment, aslong as they don't get any bigger, clearances normally decrease with mileage, against what you might think which is that they increase. this is because as the valve and seat wear the valve sits further into the head, which means the stem...

Re: Free Play In Clutch Lever
as has been said, I hve had a slave cylinder go on my vtr, also as they say it must be going somewhere, so does the slave cylinder/rear sprocket area look wet? any drips? I thought at first it was oil from the scott oiler, turns out it was brake fluid from the clutch slave cylinder.

Re: Free Play In Clutch Lever
if its just a case of resevoir running out of fluid I doubt you will get rid of the air from the bottom bleed nipple, I would put some tissue around the clutch master cylinder banjo, pull the clutch in, then crack the banjo loose then tighten it back up again right away. this will get rid of any air...

Re: i need help
Just thought i'd add that I rode about 60 miles with the front cylinder vacuum port open at atmosphere, all I noticed was a slightly rougher idle, and backfiring on the overrun, this was what initially tipped me off, any time i closed the throttle it popped and banged like a machine gun.

Re: Engine Rebuild.
well it was easy enough regarding the colours, it was only when i found bikebandit which had the letters a,b,c,d and E along with the colour codes so I could work out which colour is which letter. http://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/hon/5053e8aaf870021c54be3255/crankshaft-piston lists part no's and ...

Re: Engine Rebuild.
yeah i guessed that it was the markings on the crank balance halves instead of on the crank cases as there are no marks on the crank cases, i matched them up with the haynes and that let me to green for the big ends and brown for the crank main journals. should I just order brown and green? why are ...

Re: Engine Rebuild.
you took your firestorm crankcase there and they bored them for pistons? that sounds perfect :) any idea on the price?? :) re the main bearings, whats confusing me is the colour codes, when i go on parts fiches like ronayers it lists the shells as sizes a,b,c,d and e, so this doesn't tell me which o...

a Bulb will only draw as much amperage as it can handle, its higher voltage than advertised that will kill bulbs, how is your reg/rec?
